Surya Grahan Uttarakhand: Char Dham have been closed and will open after the Surya Grahan period ends on Tuesday evening. the doors will be opened after cleaning the temples and worship will be done. During this time devotees will not be allowed to have darshan. Due to the Surya Grahan, Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 26 October and Bhaiya Dooj on 27 October instead of 25 October. This year’s Deepotsav will be of 6 days instead of five days. The Sutak period has become effective from 12 hours before the Surya Grahan. The eclipse can be seen in some parts of the world including India.

Surya Grahan Rules
- During the Sutak period, neither food is prepared nor taken. However, such rules are not applicable for sick, old and pregnant women.
- If the food is already prepared, then break a basil leaf and put it in it. Add basil leaves to milk and things made from it, water too. Due to Tulsi leaves, the contaminated environment does not affect the food items.
- Pregnant women should take special care with wearing sutak. Do not leave the house from the time of Sutak till the Surya Grahan is over .
- Pregnant women should not use sharp objects from the Sutak period till the eclipse period is over.
- Do not do worship even in the temple of the house during the Sutak period.
Badrinath, Kedarnath Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham closed
Uttarakhand Char dhams including Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham are closed on the day of Surya Grahan on 25 October. All the temples of Uttarakhand closed just before the Surya Grahan . After the Surya Grahan ends, the evening worship and aarti will be completed by cleaning the temples.
