Helicopter Service for Adi Kailash Yatra

Devotees wishing to witness the sacred Adi Kailash mountain have some good news! Now, instead of trekking through steep and challenging paths, they can experience the beauty of Adi Kailash via helicopter service. The tourism department is introducing MI-17 helicopter services to make the pilgrimage more accessible.

Time-Saving and Safe Journey

Previously, pilgrims had to endure dangerous and time-consuming routes to reach Adi Kailash. However, with the introduction of MI-17 helicopters, the journey will become much smoother and quicker. The demand for Adi Kailash Yatra has surged since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, and this new service is expected to accommodate the growing number of devotees. According to Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, the helicopter service will officially begin in November.

What Will Be the Cost of the Helicopter Service?

The Adi Kailash helicopter pilgrimage package will span three days and is priced at ₹1.20 lakh. However, the Uttarakhand government is offering a subsidy of ₹30,000 for devotees, bringing the final cost down to ₹90,000 per person.

Other Attractions in the Package

In addition to Adi Kailash, devotees will also be able to visit Om Parvat and the Kailash View Point. However, due to the high altitude (over 14,000 feet), the maximum age limit for the journey has been set at 55 years. All pilgrims will undergo a health checkup before commencing their journey to ensure their fitness for the trip.

Route of Adi Kailash Yatra

The Adi Kailash journey will begin from Pithoragarh, where an MI-17 helicopter will transport 15 passengers at a time to Gunji village. From Gunji, devotees will continue by high-power four-wheelers for 21 kilometers to Nabhidhang, where they will first witness the Om Parvat. Under the security of the Indian Army and ITBP personnel, the journey will continue for 9 kilometers to reach the Old Lipulekh Pass.
