Gartang Gali Uttarakhand , a historic wooden bridge over 11,000 feet in height in Uttarakhand Uttarkashi district near the Indo-China border, reopened for tourists recently after 59 years following renovations. That bridge was an ancient trade route to Tibet, is believed to have been constructed by Peshawar Pathans. It suffered damage over the years after being declared off-limits following the Indo-China war in 1962.

Gartang Gali Trek is one of the best options for an adventurous trek trip in Uttarakhand. The Bridge offers an appealing sight of Nelong Valley and the flora & fauna surrounding the area. The trek is one that adventure lovers should not miss. The wooden bridge here is built in the tradition of cutting
through a single rock.

Visitors can take a walk over the wooden bridge that stretches for almost 300 meters, made from Devdaar wood. Trek was recently opened by Uttarakhand Tourism Board with the aim of promoting rural tourism and creating employment and business opportunities for locals .
