Onam Special Trains : Onam is one of the biggest celebration in South India . Onam is one of the most important festivals of Kerala. People from all communities come together to celebrate the harvest festival with enthusiasm and joy. Each day has its own unique name, significance and activities. This year’s festivities begin on August 30 and will continue till September 8. Lakhs of devotees offer their prayers during the 11-day festival prayers.
Onam Special Trains
Indian Railways had also announced to run special trains to deal with the crowd on the occasion of Onam. The special trains by IRCTC will cover many states of South India.
Southern Railways will operate 8 special trains via Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and Salem to Kerala in view of the rush during the Onam festival. he is the list of special trains for onam festival.
Onam Special Trains Dates and Timings
- Train No.06046 – Ernakulam Junction To MGR Chennai Central Special Onam train will leave from Ernakulam Junction at 10 PM on September 1 and Reach MGR Chennai Central at 12 noon on September 2.
- Train No.06045 – MGR Chennai Central To Ernakulam Junction special onam train will leave from MGR Chennai Central at 1:10 PM on September 2 and Reach Ernakulam Junction at 3 am on September 3.
- Train No. 06043 – Tambaram to Kochuveli special onam train will leave at 2:15 PM on September 4 from Tambaram and reach Kochuveli at 12 noon on September 5.
- Train No. 06044 – Kochuveli to Tambaram special onam train will leave at 2:30 PM on September 5 from Kochuveli and reach Tambaram at 10:55 am on September 6.
- Train No. 06048 – Nagercoil Junction to Chennai Egmore Special via Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Salem Jn. special onam train will leave at 5:50 PM on September 11 from Nagercoil Junction and reach Chennai Egmore at 12:30 pm on September 12.
- Train No. 06047 – Chennai Egmore to Nagercoil Junction special onam train will leave at 4:15 PM on september 12 from Chennai Egmore and reach Nagercoil Junction at 5:55 am on September 13.
- Train No. 06037 – Kochuveli to SMVT Bengaluru special onam train will leave at 5PM on Septembre 11 from Kochuveli and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 6:35 AM on September 12 .
- Train No. 06038 – SMVT Bengaluru special to Kochuveli onam train will leave at 3PM on Septembre 12 from SMVT Bengaluru and reach Kochuveli at 6:35 AM on September 13 .

Onam 2022 Special Buses
As the festival of Onam is approaching, the government has come up with a special bus service scheme that will run for the convenience of the crowd. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is planning to operate special bus services in Kerala. The special interstate bus service is likely to run from August 26 to September 11.
The special bus services will operate from Bengaluru, Mysore and Mangaluru covering several cities of Kerala. A fleet of more than 20 buses is being allotted to ease the transport during this special bus service period. If the demand increases further, more buses will be made available for the passengers. In Kerala, the buses will cover cities like Kannur, Ernakulam, Palghat, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. Passengers who
are willing to avail this special bus service can book tickets in advance through the online portal of KSRTC.
