Hemkund Sahib, located in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, will close its portals for the season on October 10 2024 , officials announced on Wednesday. Devotees planning to visit have been advised to make their arrangements accordingly, as the site will remain closed until next year.

170,000 Pilgrim Visited Hemkund Sahib Till Now

The Hemkund Sahib Yatra, which began on May 25, has attracted a large number of devotees this year. By Tuesday, September 24, over 170,000 pilgrims had already visited the holy site. Officials estimate the total number of visitors to cross 200,000 by the end of the Yatra season.

Despite the overwhelming turnout, the pilgrimage has not been without challenges. Four pilgrims have tragically passed away due to health complications while making the arduous trek. The journey to Hemkund Sahib, which involves a 13-kilometer trek to the Gurudwara, is physically demanding, and pilgrims are urged to be cautious.
