On this day in Uttarakhand, a tradition which has been going on for years is followed. During this time, it is customary to play bhailo, a game that is played to share happiness together. On this day, on Raksha Bandhan, the Rakshasutra tied on the hand is tied on the tail of the calf and blessings are sought for the fulfillment of the vow.
Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Speaker of the Assembly Premchand Agrawal for the decision of CM has described it as a commendable initiative. Agrawal said that the Chief Minister has been appreciated for this decision for the preservation and promotion of civilization, culture of the state. On this occasion, the Speaker said that he would participate in all the programs organized in Rishikesh assembly constituency on the occasion of igas festival and this festival would be celebrated with gaiety and grandeur. igas Festival in Uttarakhand 2021 Date
The holiday on the festival of Igas in the state will now be on Monday i.e. November 15 declares today holiday in uttarakhand . For this, the General Administration Department has issued orders.on this day other government offices, schools and colleges will be closed except banks, treasury. in that case, a day earlier on Thursday itself, Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami had announced this in a public program.

Diwali festival is celebrated all over the country in the joy of the arrival of Lord Rama to Ayodhya. But it is said that the news of Lord Rama’s return to the hilly areas of Uttarakhand was received after 11 days, so after 11 days happiness was celebrated in the mountains. And in many parts of Uttarakhand, different dates are considered as Budhi Deepawali.
The second belief behind celebrating Igas festival is this. On the Ekadashi of Kartik Shukla Paksha, Veer Madho Singh Bhandari of Garhwal, after winning the battle of Dapaghat Tibet, returned home with his soldiers. In the joy of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari’s return victorious, people celebrated the day of Ekadashi by playing Bagwal. And this joyous occasion was later considered as the Igas festival in uttarakhand .So we can say that Egaas festival is the
victory festival of Uttarakhand.
How igas festival is celebrated ?
It is also celebrated in the same way as Deepawali, by cleaning houses and lighting diyas on them as well as applying oil to the horns of bullocks. Cows are worshiped by wearing garlands around their necks.
There is a tradition of playing bhailo on the Igas festival. There is a bundle of woods like Bhailo, Pine or Bhimal etc. Which is tied with a rope and twisted around the body. And celebrate happiness. Performing satire, folk dance and folk arts are also performed on this day. Presentations of Pandava dance are also performed in many regions.
